WE ARE THE CLEAN MOBILITY COLLECTIVE
We are a worldwide movement of organizations united around a common vision: to achieve fossil-free, healthy and safe cities for all. We believe we achieve our ambitions best when we co-conspire – sharing strategies, successes and inspiration with organizations at the forefront of the climate crisis across the world. That’s why we are a collective, supporting a network of members who commit to shared values, vision and goals, while promoting space for individual creativity and growth.
OUR GOAL
By 2035, people-centered planning led by diverse communities impacted by polluting and unsafe mobility systems will drive sub-national governments and delivery companies to implement zero-emission urban movement of people and goods.
This includes the replacement of internal combustion engine fleets, expanded and electrified public transport, and extensive walking and cycling infrastructure, improving public health and safety while reducing emissions at scale.
We are working toward a fundamental transformation of urban mobility systems that prioritises people and communities and addresses both climate breakdown and structural inequality.
OUR VISION
People value clean air, safe transport, green spaces, and socially responsible companies.
Mobility and delivery systems put people first. Vehicles of all sizes do not pollute, companies respect our streets, and supply chains become more localised and accountable.
Public transport is electrified, affordable, accessible, safe, and climate resilient.
OUR THREE AREAS OF WORK
We work to transform global delivery and freight systems toward zero-emission operations while addressing the unequal impacts of transport systems across regions.
We advocate for public authorities and companies to make commitments to address the impacts and inequalities created by global transport systems, particularly between the global north and global south.
We also work with delivery and logistics companies to secure commitments and progress toward zero-emission delivery systems, with transition pathways that vary across regions and sectors.
Through coordinated international campaigning, we push for stronger corporate accountability and policy frameworks that accelerate the shift to clean and just delivery systems.
We support the transformation of urban mobility systems so that they are safer, cleaner, and more inclusive for all people.
Governments at all levels should be adopting and delivering policies that expand safe and inclusive active mobility options, prioritising communities most impacted by unsafe and polluting transport systems.
We also support the expansion of clean, equitable, and efficient public transport systems that are electrified, accessible, and designed around public need.
We work on the enabling conditions needed to transition entire urban transport systems.
This includes electrified public fleets, strengthened electricity grids, business partnerships, charging infrastructure, and workforce transition and retraining programmes.
CMC is a growing global network connecting over 100 participating organisations working across regions and contexts.
Our network of member organisations has strong connections to impacted and grassroots communities, including workers, low-income communities, technical experts, and youth, ensuring local experience shapes global strategy.
We are strengthening collaboration across five regions, including Latin America, through learning exchanges, capacity building, and cross-regional collaboration.
PROJECTS ACROSS REGIONS
We address how transport transitions in the global north can create unintended environmental and social harm in the global south.
Our work begins with mapping global supply chains, including the export of used fossil-fuel vehicles from the United States to Latin America.
We develop research-informed approaches that support a more just and equitable global transport transition.
CMC’s flagship corporate campaign accelerates the shift to zero-emission delivery systems.
We coordinate international action to push delivery and logistics companies toward stronger commitments, while linking corporate accountability with policy tools such as Zero Emission Delivery Zones (ZEDZs).
We support inter-regional collaboration to identify and scale local solutions that improve safety, inclusion, and sustainability in urban mobility systems.
This includes shared learning spaces, collaborative challenges, and recognition of community-led innovation.
CMC partners develop and test mobility policies that support cleaner, safer, and more equitable cities.
This includes zero- and low-emission zones, safe school streets, parking reform, and measures that strengthen walking, cycling, and public transport.
We work with local stakeholders to refine and scale these approaches across regions.
CMC supports 12 young people (ages 17–29) selected through a partner-led application process.
The fellowship strengthens youth leadership in mobility justice and supports their participation in CMC’s collective work.
We create space for worker-led organisations to share best practices, identify key moments for labour leadership, and strengthen collaboration between environmental and labour movements on shared priorities.
CMC ensures that local, impacted voices are represented in global climate and mobility spaces.
We coordinate collective actions and cross-regional collaboration during key international moments and convenings.
CMC hosts ongoing online learning series and regional and global convenings that support knowledge sharing, skill building, and collaboration across the network.
