Celebrating innovation: Hack-A-Street winners pave the way for walkable cities

A round of applause for the winners of the Hack-A-Street challenge! Three teams emerged victorious after impressing the jury with their innovative, data-driven digital solutions aimed at improving cycling and pedestrian experiences. Gabaik, the first-place winner, created a simple, easy-to-deploy mobile app designed to address bicycle parking challenges in highly urbanized areas. In second place, Tulay introduced a tool that audits sidewalk conditions and visualizes data on pedestrian accessibility, mobility, and safety concerns. Finally, Hakbang, the third-place winner, developed a policy planning tool to help local governments simulate the impact of street design and infrastructure changes on walkability.

The #HackAStreet initiative showcases the power of young innovators, data scientists, urban planners, and change-makers to rethink how we design our streets and transform them into inclusive, accessible spaces for everyone.
