Europe’s capitals could be free of petrol and diesel vans by 2030

Research from the Clean Cities Campaign and Transport & Environment highlights how European capitals can adopt zero-emission freight zones by 2030, powered entirely by European-made electric vans. The findings show that a rapid shift is already underway. By 2026, there will be more electric van models available than petrol or diesel ones, and by 2027, battery-electric vans are expected to be cheaper to buy than their diesel counterparts.

This shift represents a significant opportunity to tackle air pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, paving the way for cleaner, healthier urban environments.
