Project Intersect Dashboard: New tool to revolutionize road safety

Team Compartment S4 is excited to announce the launch of the Project Intersect Dashboard — a public, open-source platform designed to improve road safety at the urban-highway interface. At its core is the Countermeasure Framework, a decision-support tool inspired by global best practices that helps users move from crash data to actionable, context-specific design solutions.

Already applied to 8 of Bengaluru’s top 10 high-fatality blackspots — with on-ground implementation at 4–5 locations — the dashboard offers a one-stop solution to explore road safety countermeasures by issue, type, and cost. Users can access real-world case studies, community-driven designs, and systemic strategies to address blackspots.

Who is this platform for?

  • Government Agencies: To prioritise locations and allocate budgets for corridor improvements

  • Design Consultants, Road Safety Experts, and Students: To design context-specific blackspot solutions

  • Think Tanks and Research Organisations: To use as a proof of concept and further the methodology

  • Curious Citizens: To stay informed and engaged in road safety developments in Bengaluru

Project Intersect is led by Compartment S4, under Sustainable Mobility Network, with technical support from Raahgiri Foundation, conceptual support from Thirty Cross Collective and Disha Sahu. Implementation is underway with support of NHAI and BBMP, government outreach for implementation is supported by BIGRS and WRI India. RV College of Architecture leads educational engagement through workshops, and data partners include BTP, BIGRS, and Vital Strategies.

As we continue to scale this proof of concept, we’re looking for government partners, organizations, and practitioners to adopt the framework and co-develop it further to suit local needs. If this aligns with your work, we’d love to collaborate — reach us at connect@compartments4.com.
